D-Train
This USA, soul group was formed in a Brooklyn, New York high school in the early '80s by Hubert Eaves, III (keyboards) and James Williams (lead vocals). Having signed to the Epic/Prelude label, the group found greater success in the UK than in their home country. They scored three UK Top 30 hits with You're The One For Me (1982), Music, Part 1 (1983) and You're The One For Me (Remix) (1985). D-Train's biggest US hit was the Billboard R&&B Top 5 single Something's On Your Mind (1983). However, the anticipated breakthrough in the USA never materialized and the group split in 1985 with Williams pursuing a solo career. Again, restricted to R&&B chart success, Williams' three notable hits were Misunderstanding (number 10, 1986), Oh, How I Love You (Girl) (number 22, 1987) and In Your Eyes (number 11, 1988).
