D.A.D.
Originally known as Disneyland After Dark, D.A.D. came together in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1985. Comprising Jesper Binzer (vocals/guitar), Jacob A. Binzer (guitar), Stig Pedersen (bass) and Peter L. Jensen (drums), they combined high-energy metallic rock ‘n’ roll with an irreverent sense of humour, reminiscent of Cheap Trick and ZZ Top at their playful best. After two entertaining and musically competent albums on the independent Mega label, they were signed by Warner Brothers in 1989 (reputedly for over $1,000,000) and marketed as their ‘next big thing’. Their energetic and eccentric live performances were highly impressive, with scenarios including exploding helmets and instruments, but they could not generate the same intensity in the studio. Consequently, NO FUEL LEFT FOR THE PILGRIMS did not live up to the label's advance promotion. RISKIN’ IT ALL emerged in 1991 and showed that the band had not been disillusioned by the press backlash. It was, instead, a splendid hard rock album, sparkling with offbeat energy and their own peculiar, tongue-in-cheek style.
