Cliff DeYoung
b. 12 February 1946, Los Angeles, California, USA. DeYoung first came to prominence as the lead vocalist in Clear Light, an exciting Los Angeles-based folk-rock group signed to the Elektra label. Although their only album was an artistic success, the band was unable to fulfil its promise and broke up in 1968. While several ex-members pursued a musical path, DeYoung resumed the acting profession he began prior to joining Clear Light. During the '70s and '80s he successfully starred in several movies, including BLUE COLLAR (1978), THE HUNGER (1983—with David Bowie) and PROTOCOL (1984). However, it was a result of the US television series SUNSHINE that put Cliff into the singles chart. The song My Sweet Lady, written by John Denver and used in the programme, propelled DeYoung to number 17 in the US pop charts in 1974. After one album he disappeared back to the world of acting.
