Cathy Dennis
b. 1969, Norwich, Norfolk, England. Dennis displayed early vocal poise and by the age of 13 she was singing in her father's band Alan Dennis Band at Butlins' holiday resorts. Cathy started her career proper in the mid-'80s singing in a covers band where she was spotted by Dancin' Danny D's manager, Simon Fuller; at the time looking for a female singer to work with the producer and remixer. She subsequently signed to Polydor and started writing her own songs and recording solo. She put this parallel career on hold to work with Danny D's D-Mob, between them achieving a chart hit with C'Mon Get My Love. While other D-Mob tracks employed a variety of backing vocalists, Dennis was also featured on That's The Way Of The World. By the end of 1989 she was able to resume her solo career with Just Another Dream and her debut album. Her first significant success came in the US, with three Top 10 hits including Touch Me (All Night Long), after which recognition in her native country followed. She was, in fact, the most successful UK singles artist in the US charts in 1991. INTO THE SKYLINE saw her team with Madonna's favoured producer, Shep Pettibone. She also reunited with Danny D for the 1993 D-Mob single, Why.
