Crown Of Thorns
UK heavy metal band (nothing to do with similarly-titled IRS recording artists) formed in 1991 because, so they say, ‘we just kept bumping into each other on the tour circuit’. A promise to work together at a future date was eventually honoured when Micki Free (guitar; ex-Shalamar) and Jean Beauvoir (vocals, guitar; ex-Plasmatics, Little Steven, Voodoo X) put Crown Of Thorns together with Michael Page (bass) and Tony Thompson (drums; ex-Power Station). The first song they wrote together, Hike It Up, would be the standout track on their debut, self-titled mini-album. With the production assistance of Kiss' Paul Stanley on five tracks, and songwriting imput from Beau Hill and Jim Vallance (Bryan Adams, Scorpions, Aerosmith) the set was unfortunately not given a release outside of the UK due to label problems, the band contenting itself with widespread touring instead.
