Cochise
This melodic British country-rock group—Stewart Brown (vocals), Mick Grabham (guitar, ex- Plastic Penny), B.J. Cole (b. 17 June 1946, London, England; pedal steel), Rick Wills (bass) and Willie Wilson (drums)—made its recording debut in 1970. The confidence displayed on COCHISE continued on its successor, SWALLOW TALES, where a grasp of contemporary Americana was enhanced by several supporting musicians, including Tim Renwick and Cal Batchelor. Their rapport with drummer Wilson resurfaced in a subsequent group, Quiver. Cochise broke up in 1972 following the release of SO FAR. Cole and Wills became respected session musicians; the latter was also a member of several bands including ( Peter) Frampton's Camel, Roxy Musicand later versions of the Small Faces, while Grabham joined Procol Harum where he remained until their break-up in 1977.
