Bill Connors
b. 24 September 1949, Los Angeles, California, USA. Like so many young men of his generation, Connors was attracted to rock music and the electric guitar. His interest underwent a slight shift of direction and he became a leading figure of the jazz/rock scene of the early '70s. He toured with Chick Corea's then current Return To Forever band and also played with fellow jazz/rock bass guitarist Stanley Clarke. By the late '70s, Connors, ever searching, had also moved into free jazz and during these years he worked with Lee Konitz, Gary Peacock, Jan Garbarek and others. In addition to playing electric guitar, Connors also occasionally plays the acoustic instrument, for example on his solo album, THEME TO THE GUARDIAN. His first love, however, remained the elecrtric guitar and stylistically he has always been most at home playing jazz/rock.
