Jason Becker
This classically-trained US guitarist first came to prominence in the late '80s with fellow guitar wizard Marty Friedman in the band Cacophony. Combining blues, rock and classical styles he built up a reputation for playing at breakneck speed with a melodic intensity and feel that was reminiscent of Alvin Lee. He took time out between Cacophony albums in 1988 to record PERPETUAL BURN, a solo instrumental showcase for his remarkable six-string acrobatics. After the recording of Cacophony's second album, Becker accepted David Lee Roth's offer to be permanent replacement for Steve Vai. Becker appeared on Roth's A LITTLE AIN'T ENOUGH album in 1991, contributing some stunning guitar work, and silenced the critics’ premature claims that he would not be able to match his flamboyant predecessor.
