Heidi Berry
An American singer and songwriter who has lived in London since childhood, Berry saw the first of her compositions released on Creation in 1987 with the mini-album FIREFLY. Numerous members of the Creation fold were used as backing musicians, notably Martin Duffy ( Felt) on keyboards. Two years later the line-up also included her brother Christopher on acoustic guitar, and Rocky Holman on piano and synthesizer. However, after appearing on This Mortal Coil's BLOOD, singing a version of Rodney Crowell's Til I Gain Control Again, she switched to 4AD Records. The nucleus of Christopher Berry and Holman were retained for the subsequent LOVE, which proved to be her most accomplished and satisfying set to date. The albums contained contributions from Terry Bickers and Laurence O'Keefe ( Levitation), Martin McCarrick ( Siouxsie And The Banshees), Lol Coxhill and Ian Kearey ( Blue Aeroplanes). The original compositions were augmented by a cover of Bob Mould's Up In The Air.
