Graham Bonnet
b. 12 December 1947, Skegness, Lincolnshire, England. Bonnet first garnered attention in 1968 as half of the Marbles, who enjoyed a UK Top 5 hit with the emotional Only One Woman. Subsequent singles, both with the group and as a solo act, proved unsuccessful and he later turned to acting, starring in the film THREE FOR ALL. Bonnet resumed recording in 1977 on Ringo Starr's Ring O Records, but although GRAHAM BONNET was not a major seller in Britain, the album achieved gold status in Australia. In 1979 Bonnet replaced Ronnie James Dio in Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. With his almost James Dean-like image, the choice of Bonnet as Dio's replacement was the subject of some consternation amongst the group's more traditional heavy metal fans. The singer was featured on DOWN TO EARTH, one of the group's most popular albums, and also graced the hit singles Since You've Been Gone and All Night Long. But Rainbow's legendary instability led to Bonnet's departure the following year. He resumed his solo career with LINE UP in 1981 and earned himself a UK Top 10 single with Night Games. Later he returned to collectivism by joining MSG for one album, ASSAULT ATTACK, before relocating to the west coast of the US to become vocalist for Alcatrazz. 1993 saw him put together metal ‘supergroup’ Blackthorne, whose repertoire included an update of All Night Long.
