Bootsauce
This Canadian funk/rap/metal crossover quintet were formed in Montreal in 1989. Comprising Drew Ling (vocals), Pere Fume (guitar), Sonny Greenwich, Jr. (guitar), R. Baculis (bass) and Johnny Frappe (replaced Rob Kazenel) (drums), the sound they produced was not unlike a three-way hybrid of Earth Wind And Fire, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Weather Report. At times verging on avant garde and jazz-rock, they nevertheless possessed an irreverent sense of humour that set them aside from the mainstream. A riotous cover of Hot Chocolate's Everyone's A Winner, together with Sex Machine, were released on the single format to boost sales of the group's debut album.
