Bonham
This heavy rock band was founded by Jason Bonham (b. 1967, England), who was given his first drum kit at the age of four by his father, Led Zeppelin's John Bonham. After playing in local groups, Jason Bonham toured and recorded in 1987 with Jimmy Page and, after his father's death, performed with the surviving members of Led Zeppelin in New York in 1988. After stints with Airrace and Virginia Wolf he formed his own band with ex- Robert Plant's Honeydrippers guitarist Ian Hatton (b. 1962, Kidderminster, Worcestershire, England), John Smithson (b. 1963, Sussex, England; keyboards/bass) and Daniel McMaster (b. 1968, Barrie, Ontario, Canada; vocals). The group's first single would be Wait For You, recorded with Alice Cooper's producer Bob Ezrin, augmented by an impressive debut album which took many cynical critics, unconvinced by the drummer's familial connections, by surprise.
